The Arroyo Seco Freeway has only been closed to traffic once since it was opened in 1940, and that was in 2003. History is set to be made again on Sunday when the freeway closes to vehicular traffic for the first ArroyoFest in 20 years. The event is free and family-oriented and allows participants to experience seven miles of car-free roadways – including part of the historic 110 Freeway – up close. The different spans of the roadway will be broken up by how participants choose to get around; pedestrians are asked to use the southbound, west facing lanes, and those using wheeled devices are asked to use the northbound, east facing lanes to maximize safety. “Another way to think about it [is] the west side of the parkway will be transformed into a giant sidewalk with two-way foot traffic, and the east side of the parkway will become a two-way protected bike and rollway,” the event’s website said. Daniel Hagari said Saturday morning during a press briefing in Tel Aviv.“The forces are in the field and continue the fighting,” he added, without giving further details.Hagari’s words confirm the military operation has undergone a significant expansion after what it had earlier described as two “targeted raids,” which took place on Wednesday night and Thursday night. Both those raids saw ground forces withdraw after a few hours. However, it does not appear as though any major ground offensive aimed at seizing and holding signif...Update: all southbound lanes on Interstate 280 reopened to traffic after fatal crash

BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) — Philip Billing scored a wonder goal from around 40 yards (meters) on Saturday to earn Bournemouth a 2-1 win over Burnley and its first Premier League victory of the season. The Denmark midfielder collected the ball just inside Burnley’s half, took a couple of touches then — from a central position — lobbed back-pedaling goalkeeper James Trafford for a goal celebrated wildly inside the Vitality Stadium.Few will have enjoyed it more than Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, whose job was coming under pressure after arriving in the offseason and failing to win any of his first nine league games in charge. It looked like Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez might have denied Iraola the much-needed result when he shot into the corner in the 88th minute. LONDON (AP) — Eddie Nketiah scored his first Premier League hat trick as Arsenal brushed aside last-place Sheffield United 5-0 on Saturday to keep pace in the title race. The England striker made sure Arsenal didn’t miss the injured Gabriel Jesus as he opened the scoring in the 28th minute from close range and completed his hat trick in the 58th with a fierce shot from outside the area to put Arsenal 3-0 up. Substitute Fabio Vieira netted the fourth from the penalty spot in the 88th and Takehiro Tomiyasu completed the rout deep into stoppage time from a corner. Jesus had been the architect of Arsenal’s win at Sevilla in the Champions League in midweek with a goal and an assist, but also sustained a hamstring injury that is expected to sideline the Brazilian for a few weeks. That gave Nketiah another chance to impress and he made full use of it against a team that has now conceded a league-high 29 goals in 10 games. In a tepid first half that saw Arsenal continually pass the ba...Latest news
